Both pictures were taken at an angle to avoid flash reflection. The pictures of the paintings wash the colors out somewhat. I had these framed shortly after purchase. Both were purchased directly from the artist via Pendragon Galleries in Annapolis, MD.
Here is the painting sitting on a chair in my dining room. Note how the book cover designer cut and pasted the painting to fit, even fading the bottom right portion of the cover to black when they ran out of painting.. The painting was treated as two different pictures with a common background. The faces were painted only a few inches across. He still included amazing detail.
This painting is hanging on a wall. The book cover was printed appreciably lighter than what Boris painted.
